Mangaluru: Dist admin's unannounced Kulur bridge patchwork triggers major blockage on NH 66

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 5: The district administration carried out patchwork on the Kulur Arch Bridge approach from the KIOCL Junction on NH 66 on Tuesday, August 5, without providing any prior information to the commuters.

The repair activity resulted in a severe traffic block in the area. Heavy traffic congestion was witnessed from Kottara flyover all the way till Kulur.

Earlier, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had closed traffic between the KIOCL Junction and the bridge from July 21 night to early morning on July 25, switching from traditional asphalting to laying paver blocks due to persistent heavy rains.

During this period, interlock tiling on approach roads and edge concreting with barricade installation were carried out. The joint road near the old arch bridge has been widened, but the presence of potholes remains a concern. Complete resurfacing is expected only after the monsoon ends.
