New Delhi, Aug 6: Shiv Sena has declared its unconditional support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Vice Presidential election, party leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced during a visit to the capital.

Accompanied by all Shiv Sena MPs, Shinde met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and extended congratulations on Shah becoming the longest-serving Home Minister in India’s history, with a continuous term of 2,258 days. Praising Shah’s leadership, Shinde credited him for abrogating Article 370, curbing Naxalism, and driving national security initiatives like ‘Operation Mahadev.’

He also highlighted the deep-rooted alliance between Shiv Sena and BJP, noting, “Our partnership predates the NDA itself and has now completed 25 years.” He confirmed that Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde attended the recent NDA parliamentary party meeting and reaffirmed their commitment to contest future local elections under the MahaYuti alliance.

On the issue of elephant Mahadevi, currently at the centre of a legal and public sentiment dispute, Shinde said the Maharashtra government would file a review petition in the Supreme Court, acknowledging the emotional response from citizens.

Taking a veiled swipe at the opposition, Shinde added, “Parliament is in session, and we are here to meet our MPs openly and transparently. Unlike others, we are not operating in secrecy.”
