Mangaluru, Aug 8: A woman has alleged that a beauty parlour located on the Jyothi–Hampankatta road is involved in providing massages to male customers.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club on Friday, August 8, the woman said she had been working as a beautician at the parlour for the past one and a half months. She alleged that the owner of the parlour instructed her to massage male customers and provide a ‘happy ending’, charging them between Rs 500 and Rs 1,000.

According to her, on August 6, a customer known to the owner arrived at the shop. “The owner asked me to give him a massage. With no option left, I massaged him. The male customer then asked to engage in physical contact, which I refused. I tried to leave the room,” she said. She further alleged that she was beaten by the owner, who also took semi-nude photographs of her on her own phone.

The victim claimed that the owner threatened to show her semi-nude photographs to her husband and had, in fact, shown them to him after calling him to another location.

She also alleged that several other girls had been mentally and physically tortured by the owner after being forced to massage male customers. The owner had also allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 from her.

The victim said she had lodged a complaint with the police commissioner and the Bunder police station.

Former corporator Prathibha Kulai said, “A woman approached me seeking help as she was forced to massage a male customer. The owner was harassing her by taking semi-nude photographs and blackmailing her. Despite a complaint being filed on August 6, even after two days, the police have not registered an FIR.”
