Udupi, Aug 9: MLA Yashpal Suvarna has submitted a memorandum to union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, urging the establishment of a Startup Accelerator in Udupi to boost the region’s entrepreneurial growth.

Highlighting Udupi’s strong educational base with numerous engineering, degree, and medical colleges, Suvarna emphasised the need for a full-fledged accelerator to complement the existing incubation centres. He proposed partnering with TiE Mangaluru, which supports over 60 startups through mentorship and funding.

The memorandum also pointed to the success of local tech companies like Robosoft Technologies and Niveus Solutions as evidence of Udupi’s potential. MP Kota Srinivas Poojary and BJP district president Naveen Shetty Kutyaru accompanied Suvarna during the submission.
