Monsoon session begins with opposition protest against state government in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Aug 11: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session commenced on Monday, but the very first day saw opposition parties BJP and JD(S) staging a protest against the state government.

Ahead of the session, NDA alliance legislators gathered in front of the Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudha, holding a demonstration.

The opposition condemned the recent stampede incident at Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 innocent lives, blaming it on the alleged irresponsibility of the Congress government.

BJP state president B Y Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R Ashoka, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, along with BJP and JD(S) MLAs and MLCs, participated in the protest.
