79th Independence Day celebration at SMVITM & Niraamaya Institute of Health Sciences

Udupi, Aug 15: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), along with Niraamaya Institute of Health Sciences, celebrated India's 79th Independence Day with great fervour and patriotic spirit on August 15, at the college premises.

The event was graced by Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, chief executive officer (CEO) of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Educational Institutions, who delivered the Independence Day message, reflecting on India's journey since independence, encouraging students and faculty to contribute actively to nation-building.

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a parade and ceremonial salutes. One of the key highlights was a motivational Independence Day speech delivered by JUO Arpita Thantry, an RDC (Republic Day Camp) participant, who inspired the gathering with her passionate words about duty, discipline, and patriotism.

The presence of esteemed dignitaries added significance to the occasion, including, director Niraamaya Institute of Health Sciences Dr Naveen M Ballal, principal, NCN Bantakal Roshani Rodrigues, in-charge principal SMVITM Bantakal Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal NCAHS Bantakal B Shivashankar Pai.

Adding a creative and interactive spirit to the celebration, the organising committee conducted patriotic group singing and poster making competitions for the faculty and staff, which received enthusiastic participation and appreciation. A special mention must be made of the NCC cadets, who played an active role in the day’s events, from coordinating the flag hoisting ceremony to maintaining discipline and presenting a well-organised parade. The ceremony was a true reflection of unity, patriotism, and commitment to the values of the nation.
