PM Modi urges traders to promote ‘Swadeshi’ goods

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, called on shopkeepers and traders across the country to display boards declaring that they sell only Indian products.

Emphasising the importance of ‘swadeshi’, Modi said the use of indigenous goods should not be driven by compulsion but embraced as a source of national strength. “I want to appeal to every trader and shopkeeper… write outside your shops, ‘yahan swadeshi maal bikta hai (indigenous products are sold here),’” he urged.

Reiterating his vision for a self-reliant India, the prime minister said citizens should take pride in adopting locally made products, thereby strengthening the nation’s economy and identity.
