Abu Dhabi, Aug 15: India’s 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great significance at the premises of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.
Indian ambassador Sanjay Sudhir hoisted the national flag and, in his address, stated that the relationship between India and the UAE has taken significant strides in enhancing the two countries’ social, economic, educational, and cultural ties. He noted that India’s strong stand against terrorism has received widespread positive global response, and emphasized that development remains the common objective for all. He recalled that both nations have entered into several economic and educational agreements to strengthen bilateral relations.



On this occasion, a documentary showcasing the India–UAE relationship was screened. Cultural programs were also held, and social workers were recognized and felicitated.
Among the distinguished guests were Parika Sarvottama Shetty, president of the Abu Dhabi Kannada Sangha; Prof Kokkarne Surendranath Shetty, retired head of the department of Political Science at MGM College, who is currently visiting Abu Dhabi; key members of the Indo Social Cultural Organization in the UAE; and Vandana Sudhir, wife of ambassador Sunjay Sudhir.
