Mangaluru: St Aloysius University marks 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour

Mangaluru, Aug 16: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, commemorated the 79th Independence Day on August 15, with great zeal and patriotism. The event, which commenced was a resounding success, witnessed by students, teachers, and dignitaries alike.

Dr Ishwara Bhat S, director of the Science block was the chief guest for the programme. He emphasised the idea of India moving towards development in the last 78 years. It has become strong by making many achievements scientifically and has also made a lot of progress in the fields of cultural heritage and medicine. Artificial intelligence will achieve more improvements scientifically in the coming days. He said that the students should have bigger dreams and give their valuable contributions to Mother India.

In his presidential address, the vice chancellor of the university, Dr Praveen Martis, remembered the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. He said that there should be immense respect for the country among the students. He also said that everyone should join hands in the nation building.

The festivities kicked off with a spectacular NCC march, showcasing discipline and unity among the students. This was followed by the solemn and symbolic hoisting of the national flag by the chief guest and vice chancellor, underscoring the essence of freedom and unity.

The assembly resonated with patriotic fervour as the students and teachers gathered to pay homage to the nation’s struggles and achievements. The campus radiated with an air of togetherness and pride. The feeling of unity was further amplified as sweets were distributed among the attendees, symbolizing the shared joy of the occasion.

As the day’s festivities drew to a close, a sense of accomplishment and unity hung in the air, setting the tone for a promising and vibrant future.
