Gurugram, Aug 17: In a daring evening heist, five armed robbers posing as auditors looted Rs 9.5 lakh in cash from a Manappuram Gold Loan office on Sheetla Mata Road here on Saturday, police said.

The incident took place around 6 pm when two men first entered the office claiming to be auditors. Within minutes, three more joined them and held a security guard and two employees at gunpoint before decamping with the cash. The robbery lasted barely 10 minutes.

Police are yet to ascertain whether the accused also took away jewellery from the branch. “An FIR has been registered and the culprits are being identified through CCTV footage. Barricades have been set up at major intersections across the city,” said SHO Sukhbir of Sector 5 police station.

The robbers, who had parked their bikes at a distance, managed to flee before police could be alerted. A manhunt is underway.
