Sydney, Aug 17: Star Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy has admitted that her team faces a major challenge against spin as they prepare for the ICC Women’s World Cup to be hosted in India and Sri Lanka next month.

Australia, aiming for a record-extending eighth title, will rely heavily on Healy, who showcased fine form in the Australia A tour of India. The opener smashed an unbeaten 137 in the third one-dayer at Bengaluru, guiding her side to a nine-wicket win over India A. She also scored 91 in the previous game, finishing as the series’ highest run-getter despite Australia A losing 1-2.

“They’ve got a really spin-heavy attack, and throughout the World Cup we’ll have to play a lot of spin, especially in the middle overs which will be spin-biased,” Healy told cricket.com.au.

Australia A coach Dan Marsh praised Healy’s form, saying her dominant performance against spin has placed her in a strong position ahead of the World Cup campaign.
