Kanpur, Aug 18: A 21-year-old nurse was found dead inside the bathroom of the hospital where she worked in Kanpur on Sunday, police said.

The deceased, identified as Chandni from Bihar’s Siwan district, had been employed at a Lajpat Nagar hospital for the past month. She had been residing with the family of a woman, Lakshmi Gupta, in Rawatpur for the last six years.

Police said Chandni reported for duty on Saturday night but went missing the next morning during shift change. A search was launched and her body was discovered in the locked bathroom of a private room on the hospital’s third floor. The door had to be broken open.

Injections and medicines were recovered from the spot, leading police to suspect that she died by suicide after injecting poison. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigations are underway.
