Dubai, Feb 5: Local artistes from the UAE yet again made the world of Tulu drama proud with a perfect entertainer, a thoroughly professional performance and a historic presentation with Tulunada Ratna Dinesh Attavar's 'E... Porlu Daye...?'. It was simply a step forward, an extension of their earlier historic shows of 'Ganguna Gammth', 'Mastru Manipujer' and 'Benpinori Tinpinori'.

The team this time came together as 'Gammath Kalavider'. Remarkably, the show was free, despite the team already proving that by all means they are as good as any professional Tulu drama troupe in Mangalore or elsewhere. It was also clearly evident of the time and efforts put in by the team and the mastery of leadership.

The most heartening part of the show was a jam-packed audience which appreciated performance of each actor with applause and sat till the end of the show which concluded at 11.30 pm.

'E... Porlu Daye...?' was presented at the Emirates Theatre, Umm Suqueim, Dubai and the stage event started at 5.30 pm. Sarvotham Shetty, a personality well-known to all, launched the event with his beautiful and highly impressive oration. He welcomed all sponsors and supporters and delivered the introductory remarks. Vasu Shetty, main co-ordinator of 'Gammath Kalavider' honoured all on stage with shawls and mementos.

The logo of 'Gammath Kalavider' was inaugurated by Mrs Kushala Shetty and Mrs Harish Bangera. The logo depicting Tulu culture and folklore, Arabic soil and drama art, is the concept and creation of Ganesh Rai.

Dinesh Attavar, writer of the original script and ace actor, was honoured with the title 'Tulunada Ranga Siri', shawl, citation, bouquet and fruit basket. Speaking on this occasion, Dinesh Attavar requested all Tuluvas to support 'Gammath Kalavider'.

Chidanand Poojary, founder member of 'Gammath Kalavider' and 'Yaksha Mithraru' (amateur Yakshagana troupe in the UAE) too was honoured for his untiring efforts towards promoting Yakshagana, drama and all other forms of entertainment. He was honoured with shawl, citation, bouquet and fruit basket.

Harish Sherigar presented a few Kannada karaoke songs which were liked by all.

The play, a comedy and family entertainer with great moral, revolved around the story of a man and his relationship with his son and widow daughter-in-law. Blended with clean and classy comedy, the play was a pure and superlative comedy. All the actors delivered breathtaking performances.

Vishwanath Shetty yet again proved his excellent directing skills. Kethan D'Souza provided the background score. Stage setting was done by Chidanand Poojari. Prasad Rai provided lights and sounds, and Kishore Gatti, the make-up.

After the drama, actors and technical team were called to the stage and presented with mementos. Sarvotham Shetty too was honoured for supporting the event.

Earlier, Vasu Shetty welcomed the gathering and called upon all Tulu speaking people to be united irrespective of their diversity.

Speaking to daijiworld, Vishwanath Shetty, director of the drama and backbone of the entire show thanked all those who supported the event and promised his wholehearted commitment towards future performances.

Sarvotham Shetty compered the entire event in a wonderful style.

I was really felt upset after reading negative comments. But Gammath Kalavider please take a note that all who wrote negatively never complained about Drama. They all put their praises about drama which was presented with perfection. I came to the Drama along with my son who is 5 years old. Though he dont understand Tulu he kept asking me in the venue when drama will start. Yes Drama started little late but real meaning behind the delay will be understood by the people who are all working in any of the charity organizations in Dubai. Circumstances lead the organisers to delay the start of the program. Dont feel bad Gammath Kalavider. I too acted in some of the konkani Dramas here in Dubai and i know how much we are struggling to put up a show. As all agree here with me that Drama was excellent and all the actor's are superb in their acting. If possible please avoid prompting next time. Keep Rocking always and take all the negative comments positively.

I am feeling bad to read all these baseless comments. The people are against "Gammath Kalavideru" writing all these unwanted comments. Please leave this grudge and show your unity to promote Kannada,Tulu & Konkani in this part of the country. Support this budding artists who are struggling hard to put this show and please dont go for cold war.

    Dear Readers

First of all please pardon us for keeping you waiting and delaying to start the show. The reason for the delay was from the school management as off late they have received circular from the ministry to start any shows in the School especially on Fridays after 6.00 pm only. Because of this decision we had no other option but to use this time for our valuable sponsors, by whose courtesy you have benefited to watch this show free.

You will appreciate that the organizers have delivered such a quality program on free of charge for which they have taken lot of time, pain and money for the past 4-5 months for getting permission from the authority, from the school, searching suitable artists without thinking of any personal benefit. All our local Artists are working men and women, despite their busy schedule they spent 4-5 months for practice just to deliver a quality event without anticipating any personal gain.

It is very easy to criticise but difficult to act. Only those who have undergone this situation can understand .

Also we would like to thank all our sponsors, media, well wishers & ofcourse wonderful audience for their support.A special thanks to valuable suggestions & will take it on positive note.

    Regards,

    Gammath Kalvider U.A.E

    Fedrick Dsouza, dubai,
I am sure that , you are not a true drama lover or 100 % perfect person….!
Before saying anything please keep in your mind or question yourself that you are eligible for commenting or say negatives..
Try yourself to involve any organisation or committee who will actively conducting cultureal or social programming not for any financial benefits..
Ok agreed that stage program was little bit prolonged, honouring sponsors first responsibility of any organisation.. You never understand that True value of time, When they scarifies their personal time and spend couple of months just for the practise of drama.
Without support of sponsors you never see any public programmes. Never comment any childish comments in future with understanding efforts of organisers, artistes and members of organisation.
You don't have any moral right to say anything ,which is not in the scope of your knowledge and your imaginations..

Dinesh , your comment is 100% right. Every organiser should improve on this issue. I had similar experience several times. Important is given only on Shalu Hodisuvude , praising & etc.rather than the main event( especially evening /night events). This is definetly required, but keep it simple, short & quick .I give 100 /100for this Drama & look forward to see again.

I think people have got my message wrong, I wanted to say that Vinod had the required aggresiveness and was clear in his dialogue delivery..(i missed to write the word had in between) sorry for that but good job Vinod you were outstanding on stage along with the rest of the troupe. i could see your hand shivering in anger when you were about to hit Mamanna.. that's what is required and you did complete justice to it... kudos!!1

All the artists did a very good job, special mention of Chidanna who was flawless, Manager - fluent, Vinod - Required aggresiveness and clarity in dialogue delivery, Savithri suited her role and did a good job. Special mention of Babitha.. for the extreme emotional turbulence being projected... truly enjoyed. the show... but the drama began quite late..

Chiiddu poojari you rock the stage ..as well as all the artist job well done .... organizers and the management need to learn how to conduct a show calling people at 4 30 n starting the play at 6 45 can any one explain ? people travel a distance to watch the play not to listen to the boring talks ...please think abt this ....still i say thumbs up for the show just because of the brilliance performance by all the artists good luck !!

Honestly, I have decided not to attend any functions in Dubai in future, my valuable time was killed by listening unnecessary 'praises' for sponsors, and others.

We always wait for quality entertainment. But I had to comeback from the show at 9.30 (half way of drama), though drama was too good. I had no option, because I had no transport.

Your stage programme killed atleast 1 hour and 20 minutes, just praising people and calling every tom, dick and harry to the stage!

I agree with Rahul and Nanu Marol.
The play was superb, hats off to local artistes as well as director.
I arrived at the venue at 5, but I had to wait for the play until 6.45 to start!

    1. Sponsors are very important for any function, but you dont have to call each and every sponsor to the stage. Just call the main sponsors, guests and finish the stage prog within 15 mins. Rest of the sponsors, announce thier names, put their name in LCD, publish the names in daijiworld etc so that they get enough milage.
On Friday, stage program was like a 'Santhe'..nearly 50 people on the stage! Audince really lost the patience.

    2. Please also make sure that, any drama in any language let it be less than 3 hours. E Porlu drama was nearly 4 hours!!! it is not acceptable for audience, eventhough you show them for free . You can organise the show for free, but do not count value for thier valuable time.

If these two things do not improve, then I would see, audience for such programs will dwindle within no time...

So please organisers, kindly make a note of this
    thanks

A Perfect Doctor Ordered Tonic for a Perfect Friday.Wahhhhh...What a Performence and COntrol over the Language from the Artists.Kudos to Mr Vishwanath Shetty to holding the Drama in his End from start to End.Role of the Manager looks a simple Role but the way character has been developed and the Chemistry with othe actors simply superb. No words of Appreciations are enough for Chdanand...What a Great Actor.Savithakka made complete justice to her role with balanced dialogue delivary and natural acting.Dony and Asha were best as usual.Kudos to all the artists for their Superb efforts...Keep it Up.
Just a small note to Vishwanth.Avoid prompting in your future Drama's.It was disheartening to see that small Character ( Second Son's Wife ) couldn't able to deliver the dialogues properly when the other main characters were delivering the Dialogues like clean flow of Water. This is happening with artists when they are having the Luxury of prompting. And prompting was very much audible to the Audience.

Stage programme was too long. When timing was given at 4.30 , Drama was started at 7.00.It was like testing the patience of Audience. Please in future try to minimise the Stage Programme.Yes.....Sponsors are importent to us but somewhere down the lane we have to draw a Line.

All the Best Once again to all the Artists.

It was a superb show....! Keep it up guys...

    Request to Management Committee:

    • In future please make sure that seating arrangements are properly managed - When you reserve 75% of the hall for VIP's please don't invite common people... it's painful to beg for a seat even though people reach the hall on time.... (there was a lot of empty seats in the VIP reservation area until 9 PM) No one is free in Dubai ... Everyone is just trying to be a part of wonderful play… since they feel it’s their own family show....
    • Please make sure that timing is managed in a proper way.

Ask question your self: (Sply for community leaders)

Whether honoring sponsors in each event is required?
Why don’t we honor only artists, guests and those people who worth for it?

(No doubt sponsors are doing great job in UAE and they are just back bone for all community and other social programs)
