Beltangady, Aug 22: A deer that was injured after being chased by stray dogs was rescued by forest officials at Hunsekatte in Beltangady town limits on Thursday.
According to sources, the deer, while fleeing from the dogs, collided with a stone used for washing clothes near the house of Narayana Poojary and sustained injuries.

On being alerted, forest department staff rushed to the spot and shifted the animal for treatment. Officials said the deer would be released back into the forest once its health improves.
For the past several days, residents of the area have been troubled by stray dogs, which have also posed a threat to wild animals. Locals said that more than 15 stray dogs are creating panic by chasing schoolchildren and pedestrians, and have urged the town panchayat to take immediate action.
