Mangaluru: St Agnes College holds Kannada language workshop

Mangaluru, Aug 23: The department of Kannada, Kannada Sangha, and Library and Information Centre, in association with CIS–A2K, Bengaluru, organized a one-day Kannada language workshop on Wikipedia and Wiki Source on August 22 in the college library.

The workshop was presided over by Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues, vice principal, while the chief guest for the programme was Dr Vishala B K, chief librarian.

The resource person for the day was Anoop Rao and the workshop was coordinated by Benet G Ammanna. The programme was compered by Bhoomika.

The session began with a welcome address by Dr Basthyam Pais, HOD department of Kannada followed by an inspiring message from the chief guest, Dr Vishala B K, who enlightened the gathering about the importance of encyclopedias and the role of Wikipedia in knowledge sharing. The president, Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues, in her address, encouraged the participants and extended her best wishes for the success of the programme.

The resource person Anoop Rao offered detailed insights into Wikipedia and WikiSource, guiding participants practically on how to create a page, write an article, and publish content on the Wikipedia platform, thereby enriching students' knowledge and skills in digital content creation

Towards the conclusion, two students, Vinutha and Nithya, shared their experiences and learnings from the workshop. Certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees. The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Poornima.

The workshop proved to be an informative and fruitful experience, equipping participants with valuable skills to contribute effectively to open knowledge platforms like Wikipedia and Wiki Source.
