Goa food delivery agent nabbed for drug peddling disguised as orders

Panaji, Aug 24: In a late-night operation, Goa’s Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) arrested a 33-year-old Swiggy delivery agent from Vasco for allegedly delivering drugs under the pretext of food orders. The accused, Rahul Uppaldinni, was caught red-handed with ganja worth Rs 22,600 in Sancoale, officials confirmed.

Acting on intelligence inputs about narcotics being distributed under the guise of food delivery—particularly targeting youth—the ANC laid a trap and apprehended Uppaldinni during an active delivery. Along with the contraband, his two-wheeler and mobile phone were seized. He has been remanded to five days of police custody.

The raid was led by DySP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque and monitored by SP ANC Sunita Sawant.

Reacting to the incident, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai criticised the government, pointing out that he had raised concerns in the Assembly earlier this month about unchecked delivery services operating without proper oversight.

“Drugs Tumchya Dari! When drugs get delivered faster than justice, what does it say about Goa’s Home Department?” Sardesai posted on social media, demanding immediate regulatory action against food delivery platforms to ensure public safety.
