Veteran Sandalwood character actor Mangaluru Dinesh passes away

Kundapur, Aug 25: Senior Kannada film actor and art director Mangaluru Dinesh passed away on Monday, August 25 morning at his residence in Kundapur. He was ailing for a prolonged period.

Originally from Mangaluru, Dinesh made his entry into cinema with a strong background in theatre. Though he initially worked as an art director — handling sets for films like No. 73, Shantinivasa — he eventually found recognition as an actor. His performance as Sitaram Shetty in K M Chaitanya’s Aa Dinagalu earned him widespread acclaim.

Dinesh later became a familiar face in Sandalwood, particularly for his memorable portrayal of the Bombay don in the blockbuster KGF. He also featured in films such as Ricky, Harikatha Alla Girikatha, and Ulidavaru Kandanthe, among others.

Known for his versatility and dedication, Mangaluru Dinesh leaves behind a legacy in both art direction and acting that enriched Kannada cinema.
