Mangaluru, Aug 25: A tragic incident was reported on August24 evening at Sasihithlu Mooda beach near Surathkal, where one youth drowned while three others were rescued by locals.
The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Sameer (23), son of late Anwar, a resident of Kajakathota in Padupanambur.

Those rescued have been identified as Aiman (23), son of Abubakar of Padupanambur Kajakatota, Rayees (22) of Kajakatota, and Fazil, son of Hanif from Haleyangadi Bolluru. They were saved by local fishermen who rushed to the spot after hearing cries for help.
According to reports, six cousins from the same family had gone to Sasihithlu Mooda beach on Sunday evening for an outing. While playing in the water, Sameer, Aiman and Fazil were pulled in by strong waves. Hearing the commotion, fishermen managed to rescue three of them and shifted them to a private hospital in Mukka. Sameer, however, could not be saved.
Surathkal police visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and have registered a case in connection with the incident.
