Srinivas University hosts SPARC-2025, first international physiotherapy conference

Mangaluru, Aug 29: The Institute of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University, organised its first International Physiotherapy Conference – Srinivas University Physiotherapy in Advanced Rehabilitation Conference (SPARC-2025), a two-day international event, which was inaugurated on Friday at the University’s new campus, Pandeshwar.

The programme was presided over by honourable chancellor Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, who in his address, highlighted the remarkable journey of Physiotherapy education at Srinivas University. He said, “Our students are widely recognised for their effective Physiotherapy treatments. In today’s world, Physiotherapy plays a vital role in treating almost every disease. We began this discipline with just seven students in the BPT programme, and today, with the addition of MPT, the department has achieved great fame because of the commitment and success of our students.”

The conference was inaugurated by honourable pro-chancellor Dr A Srinivas Rao, who underlined the importance of Physiotherapy in modern healthcare. He remarked, “This session will be a valuable platform for studying human anatomy and developing innovative approaches for treatment. Physiotherapy not only promotes healing but also helps avoid unnecessary surgeries, making it one of the most significant healthcare practices of the future.”

Adding international expertise, certified international Fascial Manipulation Teacher (FMA) & registered fascial manipulation practitioner Kobi Weiss from Israel addressed the gathering. He expressed his appreciation for Srinivas University and said, “I am trying to spread knowledge by meeting more people, and I am grateful to Srinivas University for this opportunity.”

Founder director of AD Vivum Education and Research, Qatar, Dr Waqar M Naqvi, highlighted the growing role of technology in healthcare. He said, “More institutions should come forward with concepts related to Artificial Intelligence, which will help in connecting people globally.”

Srinivas University vice-chancellor Dr Satyanarayana Reddy spoke on the larger vision of the conference. He remarked, “This session will help us understand how the next decade will unfold for the world. As physiotherapists, you are not only going to heal bodies but also heal lives with your consoling and compassionate treatment.”

The programme was graced by Srinivas University board of governors members Vijayalakshmi R Rao, Prof Er Mitra S Rao, Srinivas University registrar Dr Anil Kumar, development registrar Dr Ajay Kumar.

Dr Trishala Noronha PT, dean, Institute of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University, and organising chairperson of SPARC-2025, welcomed the gathering. Dr Prem Kumar, convenor, briefed the audience about the objectives of the conference, and Dr Aishwarya Sonwane PT, co-convenor, proposed the vote of thanks.

The two-day conference brings together national and international experts, researchers, and academicians to deliberate on advancements in Physiotherapy and rehabilitation, making SPARC-2025 a landmark event in the field of healthcare education.
