Mumbai, Aug 30: In a special drive ahead of Ganeshotsav, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized and destroyed 218 kilograms of fake paneer and 478 litres of substandard milk, officials said on Friday.
As part of the campaign ‘Festival of Maharashtra, Commitment to Food Safety’, FDA teams have inspected 42 establishments since August 11 and collected 55 food samples for analysis.

In a joint operation with Mumbai police at Antop Hill on August 25, 218 kg of fake paneer was seized and destroyed, while 478 litres of substandard milk were seized from Dahisar East on August 19.
The drive will continue till October 25, covering Ganeshotsav, Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali. Citizens have been urged to report cases of adulterated food, including khoya and paneer, on the FDA’s toll-free helpline 1800-222-365.
