Mr Jossey Saldanha, You are absolutely right.. We just celebrate his birthday but don't follow his teachings.
This is what Swami Vivekenanda who famously said that Hindu men needed an intense regimen of "beef, biceps, and the Bhagavad-Gita." Weightlifting and wrestling became popular in India . "No more weeping, but stand on your own feet and be men" said Vivekenanda. "It is a man-making religion that we want. It is man-making theories we want. I want the strength, manhood, kshatravirya, or the virility of a warrior." Vivekenanda recognized that without a tough warrior caste Brahmin priests would be helpless in the face of international aggressors.

Congrats CFI and SFI for registering your protest. These students protest is not against celebrating great saint Vivekananda’s jayanthi but against propagating communal agenda through Jago Bharath of Sulibele. As a former student of this college I know it is a most communalized campus. Before there was no voice against atrocity of these communal elements.. Now it is good to see organization like Campus Front leading the fight against communalization in campus. And it is the duty of Principal and teachers to preach the value of Swami Vivekananda to these saffron brigades so that they can practice some human value in their life

Swami Vivekananda is a very great figure and a true model of Indian spirituality. His greatness and broad mindedness remains unparalleled .. Many of those who organized his 'jayanthi' were not worthy to sit on the dais, leave alone speak about him. I wish they had not politicized with this great human being. He may be wearing saffron robes, but he is not at all 'saffron' in his values and attitudes...

“I don’t know why so much fuss is created in India over beef eating. I feel it’s a matter of personal choice. Nobody should try to impose his/her views on others. I am proud to be Hindu and I am also a beef eater. Those who oppose beef eating among Hindus should first go and take lessons in Hinduism. There is so much evidence in ancient Hindu scriptures about the prevalence of beef eating among Hindus”. Swami Vivekanand - Biographer Swami Nikhilanand.
Shouldn’t we practice the preaching’s of Swami Vivekananda along with celebrating his Jayantis?

A dangerous trend, safronising the institution, and poisoning the young mind. In the process they are re-writing the history. They are killing the philosophy of Narendra and Ramakrishna and filling their philosophy in Vivekananda’s mouth. Earlier they opposed any reservations fearing loss of domination, came to terms when the free India successfully implemented. Now they want political power to go back to the same old exploitive system so they are playing the tune of Hindu unity. They are making hero of Vivekananda, they have started importing Bhagat Sing, Dr. Baba Ambedkar, and even Mahatma Gandhi to propagate their philosophy. They started calling everyone Hindu whereas years back they recognized them only by caste , and AC / AD daliths were never recognized. They had the belief that only the Brahmins were holy, they were born because of good deeds of previous birth and they were entitled for all education and white jobs and all Shudras for other jobs and daliths for menial jobs. When they enjoyed the cream for ages and any attempts to correct the system in (half heartedly) 64 years and in the meanwhile they know if power comes back they can have the same system in modern form. So first make all believe all are hindus, then to polarize and get their support, hate campaign muslims and Christians. Unfortunately we are in the same loop for ages, continue presently but in the new garb.

If only those who preach follow it first!
The sanctity of "Kavi" is defiled by some bodyguards!
    Politics over Values is condemnable.
    Educate those who educate others.
The above are some points I PONDER when seeing the above pictures!

Feel pity on the great Swami Vivekananda. It is our bad luck to listen Swami Vivekanandas greatness through Chakravarthi Soolebele. All knows what a person he is through his columns in  PAPERS.

it is unfortunate to allow him to address a meeting of students. May GOD bless all the students who attended the function.

It would have been a added attraction if Pramod Muthalk and Praveen Thogadia also present in the meeting
