Bengaluru, Sep 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for Karnataka, with a special warning for coastal districts where a red alert has been declared. Widespread rainfall is expected across the state for the next five days, accompanied by cloudy weather conditions.
The IMD stated that the monsoon intensity will remain high, particularly in Bengaluru and coastal Karnataka, while several other districts will also experience moderate to heavy showers.

In Bengaluru city, cloudy skies will prevail with light to moderate rainfall over the next five days. Bengaluru Rural district is also under rain forecast for the same period. An orange alert has been declared for both Bengaluru city and Bengaluru Rural. Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 29°C, with minimum temperatures around 21°C.
Red alert for coastal Karnataka
According to the forecast, coastal districts will receive moderate rain on September 1, followed by heavy rainfall on September 2 and 3, prompting the IMD to issue a red alert. The rain activity is likely to continue in the coastal belt until September 6.
The districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are expected to witness intense rainfall on September 2 and 3.
Meanwhile, Malnad districts are also likely to experience widespread heavy rain at several places, while moderate showers are expected in the southern interior parts. Northern interior Karnataka may see thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall for the next three days, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) informed on X.
