Trump slams court ruling against tariffs, warns of US destruction

Daijiworld Media Network – Washington

Washington, Sep 1: Days after a federal appeals court ruled that most of his administration’s tariffs were unlawful, US President Donald Trump on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the decision, warning that without tariffs the United States would be “completely destroyed” and its military power “instantly obliterated.”

In a Truth Social post, Trump accused a “Radical Left group of judges” of endangering the nation with their 7–4 verdict. He, however, praised one Democratic, Obama-appointed judge who voted in his favor, calling it an act of “courage” and proof that the judge “loves and respects the USA.”

“Without Tariffs, and all of the TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS we have already taken in, our Country would be completely destroyed, and our military power would be instantly obliterated,” Trump wrote.

On Friday, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit concluded that Trump had exceeded his authority by using emergency powers under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose the duties. The court noted that taxation and tariffs are powers constitutionally vested in Congress.

Despite the ruling, the tariffs remain in place for now, as the court delayed enforcement until October, giving the Trump administration time to appeal before the Supreme Court.

Trump reiterated that the tariffs would stay, branding the verdict “highly partisan” and warning that removing them would “make the US financially weak.”
