Trump dismisses health rumours, calls reports on social media “Fake”

Washington, Sep 3: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday brushed aside speculation about his health, terming recent social media reports “fake” and asserting that he had remained active throughout the Labor Day weekend.

“I was very active over the weekend,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, pointing to his media interactions and visits to his Virginia golf course. When asked if he was aware of the social media chatter, the 79-year-old President firmly dismissed it as false.

The rumours gained traction on platform X after Trump’s reduced public schedule late last week and a USA Today interview with Vice President JD Vance, in which Vance stated that while Trump was “in good shape,” he was prepared to step in if needed.

Over the long weekend, reporters saw Trump leave the White House daily to play golf, countering suggestions of illness. His last extended public interaction came during a cabinet meeting on August 26, which lasted over three hours, marking his longest on-camera appearance as president.

The White House has previously addressed Trump’s medical condition. Following a physical examination on April 11 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, doctors reported no major health concerns, noting a normal heart rhythm. Later, on July 17, officials acknowledged minor swelling in his legs and bruising on his hand, attributing them to benign conditions such as chronic venous insufficiency and soft tissue irritation caused by frequent handshakes and aspirin use.

Officials have since downplayed concerns, reiterating that the President continues to carry out his duties without hindrance.
