Renowned Mumbai catering entrepreneur ‘Annadata’ Raghu P Shetty passes away

Mumbai, Sep 3: Renowned Mumbai-based catering entrepreneur, popularly known as Annadata, Raghu P Shetty (90), passed away on Tuesday, September 2, at his residence in Adarsh Nagar Housing Complex, Worli Century Bazaar, Prabhadevi, following age-related illness.

A native of Kolnadu Gundalaguthu near Mulki in coastal Karnataka, Raghu Shetty was a pioneer in Mumbai’s hotel and catering industry. He earned wide recognition as the proprietor of Santosh Caterers and as a generous philanthropist.

Well-versed in the customs and traditions of Tulunadu, he shared his deep knowledge of cultural practices with the community. Known as an expert in the catering field, he gained fame as a skilled culinary specialist. His mastery in preparing delicious snacks, meals, and traditional Tulunadu dishes, served at affordable rates, earned him the affectionate title Annadata.

He is survived by his wife Warija Raghu Shetty, son Santosh R Shetty, daughters Rekha and Mallika, son-in-law Sadananda Rai, grandchildren, along with a large circle of relatives, well-wishers, and admirers.
