Court grants bail in Mungul gang war case

Panaji, Sep 3: A South Goa Sessions Court has granted bail to Deepak Katimani, a key figure arrested in connection with the Mungul gang war. Katimani, who was previously held in judicial custody, was released on Tuesday after posting a bail bond of ?25,000 with two sureties for the same amount.

The bail comes with specific conditions, as confirmed by his lawyer, adv Spencer Viegas. Katimani is required to surrender his passport to the court and report to the Fatorda police station twice a month until the police file a chargesheet in the case.

The incident, which occurred on August 12 on the Margao-Colva road at Mungul, resulted in serious injuries to two individuals. Katimani was one of several people arrested following the violent clash.
