Karkala: Christking PU College hosts taluk-level football tournament

Karkala, Sep 6: The Department of Pre-University Education, Government of Karnataka, in association with Christking Pre-University College, organised the Taluk-level Football Tournament for boys and girls at Gandhi Maidan, Karkala.

The tournament was inaugurated in the morning with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Karkala Town Municipal Council president Yogeesh Devadiga, who extended his best wishes to the players.

Presiding over the programme, the institution’s principal Lakshminarayan Kamath addressed the gathering, urging students to give importance not only to academics but also to sports. He emphasised that “students should accept defeat as a challenge and move forward without losing heart.”

Renowned national-level bodybuilder from Karkala, Praveen Devadiga, graced the occasion as a guest and wished success to the participants.

Also present on the dais were Josna Snehalatha, headmistress of the High School, Kiran Krasta, administrator, Dayananda Malebettu, president of the Parents teachers Association, and Satishchandra Hegde, director of Physical Education, KMES College.

Prakash Naik, physical education teacher, welcomed the gathering, while Lavanya proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme was compered by Deepak, lecturer in Commerce. The tournament was organised under the guidance of Physical Education director Krishnaprasad.
