Mumbai, Sep 7: Tragedy struck in Kalachowkie area of Mumbai on Saturday when a speeding car ran over two siblings sleeping on the roadside near the entrance of the famous Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati Mandal.
According to police, two-year-old Chandra Vajandar died in the mishap, while her 11-year-old brother, Shailu Vajandar, sustained serious injuries. Both were rushed to the civic-run KEM Hospital, where Chandra was declared dead. Shailu is currently undergoing treatment.
Police said the driver, who was speeding, fled the spot without stopping after the accident. While the accused has been identified, he is yet to be traced. An investigation is underway.
