Mumbai, Sep 7: Commuters on Mumbai’s suburban network are likely to face delays and cancellations today as Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) have announced jumbo and megablocks for maintenance work on tracks, signaling, and overhead equipment.
WR chief spokesperson Vineet Abhishek said a five-hour jumbo block will be in place on the Up and Down fast lines between Santacruz and Goregaon stations from 10 am to 3 pm. During this period, all fast trains will be operated on the slow line between Santacruz and Goregaon, while some services will be cancelled. A few Andheri and Borivali trains will also be short-terminated at Goregaon on the harbour line, he added.
Simultaneously, CR has scheduled a megablock on the Matunga–Mulund fast lines from 11.05 am to 3.45 pm. The Up fast line trains leaving Thane till 3.38 pm will be diverted to the slow line at Mulund, halting at stations up to Matunga before rejoining the fast line. These trains are expected to reach their destinations around 15 minutes late.
On the Harbour line, a block is underway between Panvel and Vashi on the Up and Down lines from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm (excluding the Port line). Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Panvel will remain cancelled during this period, while services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will continue. Special trains are running on the CSMT–Vashi section, and Port line services remain unaffected.
