Mangaluru, Sep 7: Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, organized the Fresher’s Day and orientation programme for the newly admitted BE, BTech, and BArch students on Sunday, September 7.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Chethan Naik, followed by a formal welcome address by Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology, who introduced the management and faculty members while highlighting the vision, mission, and code of conduct of the institution.

In his presidential address, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor, Srinivas University & president, A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru, motivated students to pursue excellence in their respective disciplines. He emphasized that dedication, communication skills, and consistent effort will lead to success, adding that the institution is committed to shaping the overall personality of students.
Dr A Srinivas Rao, pro-chancellor, Srinivas University & vice president, A Shama Rao Foundation, highlighted the importance of adapting to rapidly evolving technologies. Referring to India’s progress in the defense sector, he encouraged students to view technological change as an opportunity for career success and to contribute innovatively to the advancement of science and technology.
Mitra S Rao, Member, Board of governors, Srinivas University & secretary, A Shama Rao Foundation, reminded students of their responsibilities to their parents and institution. She spoke about the need for a balanced lifestyle, advising them to set boundaries and use technology wisely, cautioning against the misuse of social media.
A Vijayalakshmi R Rao, trustee member, A. Shama Rao Foundation, urged the students to achieve excellence and bring pride to their families and the institution. The orientation also featured a motivational session on “Engineering: A Success Path” conducted by Prof Jayram Thumbe. Senior students also shared their experiences on this occasion.
Athmi Shetty (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science), Rithika Sharma (Computer Science & Engineering), Akshatha (Electronics & Communication Engineering), Kavya C M (Aeronautical Engineering), Zafer (Srinivas University), and Keerthik (Computer Science & Business Systems) inspired the newcomers with their insights and experiences. Parents and freshers also expressed their views. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Anant Kumar Kulkarni, head of the Department of Mathematics & Student Welfare Officer. Dr Sumana V S and Prof Rashmi served as the masters of ceremony.
