Karkala: Police arrest 12 in arecanut theft case, recover goods worth Rs 5 lac

Karkala, Sep 9: The Karkala Rural police have arrested 12 individuals in connection with the theft of arecanut on August 23 at a farmhouse in Mundkur. Authorities have successfully recovered 1,100 kilos of stolen arecanut valued at Rs 5 lac.

The arrests were effected on Monday, September 8 by a special police team led by DySP Manjappa, alongside PSIs Prasanna MS and Sundar, ASIs Prakash and Sundar Gowda, constables Rudresh, Chandrashekhar, Mahantesh, and CDR personnel Dinesh and Nitin.

The investigation was conducted under the guidance of Udupi district SP Hariram Shankar, IPS; additional SP Sudhakar; and assistant SP Karkala Harsha Priyamvada, IPS.
