Mangaluru, Sep 10: The inaugural ceremony of National Nutrition Month (Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025) was held with great zeal at Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). The programme aimed to raise awareness on the importance of nutrition and healthy dietary practices, in line with the national vision of promoting holistic health and well-being.
The event commenced with a soulful prayer, followed by a warm welcome address by Ajith K, assistant professor cum dietitian, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, YNYSCH, who emphasized the need for nutrition education and its role in lifestyle modification and disease prevention.


The ceremonial lamp lighting marked the formal inauguration of the programme. A highlight of the event was the release of the Nutrition Magazine cover page, showcasing student contributions and departmental initiatives in promoting nutrition awareness.
Dr Akshaya K M, professor and head, Department of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College and Hospital, graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered an insightful address on the significance of community nutrition interventions in combating lifestyle and metabolic disorders.
The session was presided over by Dr Puneeth Raghavendra, principal, YNYSCH, who encouraged students and faculty to actively participate in creating a nutritionally aware society and highlighted the institute’s role in aligning with the goals of Poshan Abhiyaan.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr Sunitha D’Souza H, assistant professor, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, YNYSCH, acknowledging the contributions of dignitaries, faculty, and students for making the event a success.
The inauguration marked the beginning of a month-long series of activities under Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025, which will include awareness sessions, workshops, community outreach, and student-led initiatives aimed at fostering healthy eating habits and lifestyle practices.
