Dubai: Jebel Ali Konkani Community celebrates Monthi Fest with devotion and unity

Dubai, Sep 11: At the core of the Jebel Ali Konkani Community are its children, young families and bachelors. The celebration of Monthi Fest by Jebel Ali Konkani Community (JAKC), began with the 9 days Novena from August 27 to September 4.

The 9 days Novena, had children as an integral part of the liturgy and the Novena. The liturgy for the festive mass was conducted by the children of JAKC. It was truly a delight to witness children in the Gulf, reading and singing in Konkani.

The feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary, was celebrated with great fervour on the September 5. Festivities began with showering of flowers in portico of the church with the festive high mass. The community was blessed to have the presence of Fr Rocky Saldanha OFM Cap. from St Anne's Friary, Mangalore who was the main celebrant. Fr Marian Miranda and Fr Rex were the concelebrants.

Adith Lobo, co-ordinator of JAKC, delivered the vote of thanks.

The community then, joined together in the portico for the festive community meal – ‘Novem Jevan’ which was traditionally prepared by Caesars Restaurant, Dubai with facilities management by Delmon Group.

The celebrations, saw over 2500 Konkani Catholics in attendance and it truly resonates the spirit of JAKC.
