Initial reports stated that Rakshita was killed on the spot. However, police later clarified that she was stabbed for allegedly refusing Karthik’s marriage proposal. She sustained serious injuries and is currently in critical condition, undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital, Manipal.

It is reported that the incident is linked to a love affair, as the victim’s family had objected to her marriage. Following the objection, she is said to have blocked the accused’s phone number for the past two weeks. On the day of her birthday, the accused allegedly attacked her with a knife, inflicting stab wounds to her neck and on both sides of the rib area near the chest.
