Mangaluru: Air Vice Marshal Kuruvilla inspires MBA students at MSNIM

Mangaluru, Sep 13: The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) organized a talk on ‘Indian Air Force – A Path to a Fulfilling Career’ by Air Vice Marshal P K Kuruvilla, VSM (Retd), on Thursday, September 4 at the institute campus in Bondel, as a part of its MSN Knowledge Series.

The MSN Knowledge Series is a platform for outstanding academic talks aimed at disseminating knowledge in various fields of keen interest and high utility to students and citizens. It is named after the institution’s founder president, the late Manel Srinivas Nayak. The present session, in line with this legacy, was designed to inspire students to explore opportunities in the Indian Air Force, offer insights into discipline, leadership, and career fulfillment through the defence services, and reinforce the series’ mission of bringing eminent speakers to campus.

In his inspiring address, air vice marshal Kuruvilla shared insights from his distinguished three-decade journey in the Indian Air Force. He highlighted how the rigorous training instills discipline, resilience and professional excellence, shaping individuals into leaders committed to service. “The Air Force offers not just a profession but a fulfilling career of national service,” he said, urging students to view it as a path that builds discipline, teamwork, leadership and patriotism. He also shed light on the diverse opportunities within the force, ranging from operational to technical and administrative roles. His talk concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students explored various aspects of life and careers in the defence services.

Susan Kuruvilla, Manel Annappa Nayak, president, Women’s National Education Society (WNES); Ajith Kamath, correspondent, MSNIM; Vittaldas Leeladhar, former deputy governor of RBI and Governing Body member & mentor, MSNIM; Raghav Kamath, former general manager, Corporation Bank & Governing Body member, MSNIM; Sham Bhat, chief executive, TCS iON Test Centre; Rajkumar Rao, classmate of air vice marshal Kuruvilla; and Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, director, MSNIM, were present.

The programme commenced with the planting of a sapling symbolizing growth and inspiration. Assistant professor Manasa introduced the MSN Knowledge Series, its vision, and its journey, highlighting eminent speakers who had previously addressed the platform. Student Council president Keerthana Shetty gave the welcome address and introduced the speaker. MBA 2nd-year student Karishma Shetty proposed the vote of thanks, while Shreya Mahale compered the programme.
