BJP's Roll of Dishonour in Karnataka Keeps Growing

Bangalore, Feb 8 (IANS): At least 15 of 120 Bharatiya Janata Party legislators in Karnataka are facing various charges of wrong doing - from rape to corruption and illegal land deals to viewing porn in the assembly.

The list is led by the party’s first chief minister in southern India B.S. Yeddyurappa, who quit July 31 last year following the then Lokayukta (ombudsman) N. Santosh Hegde’s recommendation to try him for corruption in illegal mining scam.

Wednesday’s resignation of three ministers -- Laxman Savadi, C.C. Patil and J. Krishna Palemar -- over viewing porn in the assembly Tuesday takes to four the number of ministers who have lost their posts to sex-related issues.

The fourth is Haratalu Halappa who quit in 2010 after his friend’s wife accused him of raping her.

The rest are all fighting cases of corruption and illegal land deals.Besides Yeddyurappa, some of the other prominent among the ‘tainted’ BJP law makers are former ministers Katta Subramanya Naidu, S.N. Krishnaiah Setty, and Gali Janardhana Reddy.

Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, Housing Minister V. Somanna and Speaker K.G. Bopaiah are also facing allegations of corruption and illegal land deals. The others facing controversy are party spokesperson C.T. Ravi and Yeddyurappa's elder son and MP B.Y. Raghavendra.

The BJP’s 120 members include the speaker. The assembly strength is 225 (including one nominated member).

The Congress has 71 members, the Janata Dal-Secular 26 while the rest are Independents.

"BJP PROVED ITSELF A MOST SINCERE DISCIPLINED PARTY BY ASKING THEM TO RESIGN"

Was there any other way other than this to save the Gvt? This action makes them hero? Where was this heroism when PAK flag was hoisted?

BJP PROVED ITSELF A MOST SINCERE DISCIPLINED PARTY BY ASKING THEM TO RESIGN AT THE VERY NEXT MOMENT AND THIS WILL BE WARNING BELL FOR THE INDISCIPINED WHO EVER MAY BE IRRESPECTIVE OF BEING MINISTER AND THIS MAY ALSO HELP BJP TO GROW FURTHER BY CONVINCING THE PUBLIC DURING POLLS. HOWEVER, THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO RE-ENTER FOR ANY REASONS WHICH MAY FURTHER DAMAGE.

We know by now all major News Papers are against BJP ruled States for unknown reasons. We have to accept that 10 to 15 MLAs’ of Karnataka are accused by one or another case but none of them convicted yet. Instead in our UPA, Maharashtra, Goa & Delhi Governments there are some more notorious, most highly corrupt MLA’s or MPs’ still sitting in Parliament or Assembly Hall without any hesitation? Instead our UPA Government went one step further to appoint few of them as Governor of BJP ruled States too. BJP top Leaders for that matter waste no time to dismiss from their duties even if they are just accused in any scam. Whereas UPA to Leaders will never hesitate to promote them for higher post, may be they are thinking like “A person will get promotion only if he is unfit for current position” I hope that BJP Leaders will come clean in their image and rule Karnataka for another few decades like Narendra Modi did in Gujarat
