Mangaluru, Sep 18: The 18th annual celebration of the Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidara Okkuta (KSKO) Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, along with Swara Kudla Grand Finale, awards presentation, and cultural programmes, was held on Wednesday at Kudmul Ranga Rao Purabhavana in the city.
Inaugurating the event, entrepreneur Shashidhar Shetty Baroda said that the KSKO has been conducting several socially beneficial programmes and has grown into a model organisation.










Daijiworld media founder and managing director Walter Nandalike, speaking on the occasion, said that musicians entertain people through melodious voices and art without causing pain to anyone. “In Tulunadu, there are people who value artistes, not by fixing a price but by showing respect. Entertaining people is not an easy task,” he remarked.
Veteran theatre personality Vijayakumar Kodialbail, Bhagavathi Cooperative Bank president Madhava B M, Virajpet DySP Mahesh Kumar, and Sannidhya Residential School director Jagadish Shetty Boluru, entrepreneur Girish Alva, film director Santosh Mada, and other dignitaries including Pushparaj, Danuraj Attavara, and Subhashith Kumar were also present.
The programme was presided over by federation president Keshava Kanila, who also addressed the gathering.
Veteran artistes in the field of music—Tonne Pushkal Kumar, Ivan Sequeira, and Hanif Parlia—were honoured with the Karavali Sangeetha Kalaratna Award, which was received on their behalf by Husain Katipalla. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the Swara Kudla Grand Finale, followed by a music programme presented by members of the federation.
On the same occasion, achievers in various fields—Mohammad Iqbal Katipalla, Yashavanth M G, and Gahan—were felicitated. A posthumous award given to Srinivas Bhagavath was received by Rajesh Bhagavath.
Former president Ramesh Salian welcomed and delivered the introductory address. Secretary Ram Kumar Amin presented the annual activity report, Krishna Prasad compered the event, and Harini Uday proposed the vote of thanks.
