Home nurse accused of stealing gold, diamond ornaments worth Rs 15 lac in Udupi

Udupi, Sep 18: A case has been registered at Udupi town police station after gold and diamond ornaments worth around Rs 15 lac were allegedly stolen by a home nurse.

According to the complaint lodged by Namrata (54), a resident of Bengaluru, her mother Nagamalini, residing in a flat near Ajjarkad Park, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Udupi. For her care, a woman named Jacintha was hired as a home nurse on July 13, 2025.

Between July 13 and July 18, 2025, while working at the residence, Jacintha allegedly stole ornaments kept in a purse, including a gold bangle embedded with diamonds and weighing 20 grams, valued at around Rs 8 lac, and a gold chain with a diamond-studded pendant weighing 44 grams, valued at around Rs 7 lac. In total, jewellery worth Rs 15 lac was reported stolen.

Based on the complaint, Udupi town police have registered a case.
