Sahyadri College hosts 15th Engineering Graduation Day for first autonomous batch

Mangaluru, Sep 20: The Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management Graduation Day ceremony for the first autonomous batch of Bachelor of Engineering students passed out in the year 2025 was held in the campus on September 20 in the presence of chief guest – Dr Rajmohan C, director, Kyndryl and guests of honour –Hiyori Takashima, manager, Zenken corporation.

Dr S S Injaganeri, Sahyadri College principal, welcomed the gathering. Dr Sudheer Shetty, vice principal, announced the 2025 gold medallists at Sahyadri, while Dr Rajmohan and Hiyori Takashima presented the medals to the top bachelor of engineering achievers. Dr Rajmohan C, the chief guest, delivered an inspiring speech by first sharing memories of his own journey as a student. He highlighted the importance of continuous learning as the key to personal and professional success.

He spoke about the growing role of Artificial Intelligence and prompt engineering in shaping future growth. He encouraged everyone to stay optimistic and not be discouraged by failures or setbacks. The chief guest reminded the audience of their ethical responsibilities in both technical and non-technical fields. He stressed that honesty and integrity are essential qualities for a meaningful career.

Dr Rajmohan praised the hard work and achievements of the graduating students. Finally, he congratulated all the students and wished them a bright and successful future.

Later, the guest of honour, Hiyori Takashima, delivered an inspiring speech that highlighted her remarkable professional journey and the opportunities she had to explore in different parts of the world. She spoke about the importance of adaptability in every stage of life and career, stressing how flexibility helps in facing new challenges. Takashima emphasised the need to accept and respect diversity in the workplace for mutual growth and harmony.

She shared how strength can be drawn from one’s own culture, personal values, and the support of loved ones. Her words encouraged everyone to stay connected to their roots while embracing global experiences. She also underlined the value of giving quality time to family and friends to nurture strong relationships. Through her experiences, she motivated the audience to remain open-minded and resilient. The speech left a lasting impression, inspiring all to balance professional success with personal well-being.

Dr Manjunatha Bhandary, chairman, delivered the presidential address with heartfelt gratitude to the principal and all faculty members, and warmly congratulated the graduating students on their special day. He spoke about the many challenges faced during the journey towards autonomy and highlighted the institution’s achievements.

Stressing the value of skill labs, he underlined the importance of innovation and strong language abilities. He urged students to keep upgrading their skills to remain competitive in today’s fast-changing world. Quoting Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, he reminded them that a true dream is one that keeps you awake until it is fulfilled.

Dr Bhandary encouraged the graduates to become proud employees who uphold the dignity and integrity of Sahyadri as its ambassadors. He inspired them to stay optimistic, draw strength from challenges, and strive to fulfil their parents’ dreams. Concluding his address, he once again congratulated all the students and wished them great success in their future endeavours.

Post which the respective heads of each department - Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Science & Engineering invited the graduates on the stage for their certificates.

Dr Shantharajappa, COE, led the oath taking ceremony and the chief guest admitted the students presented before him to the respective courses. Sadhguna Aithal, from Information Science and Engineering branch and Sannidhi Kaje from Computer Science and Engineering branch shared a few words on his experience and how they evolved at Sahyadri.

Before closing the ceremony, Dr Manjappa Sarathi, director-R&D proposed the vote of thanks. For the convenience of all, the entire graduation day programme was webcast live on YouTube
