Activist’s videos on Dev Khapreshwar relocation under police probe

Panaji, Sep 21: Goa Police are examining social media posts and call records linked to activist Kankonkar as part of their investigation into Thursday’s attack on him. Sources told The Goan that videos uploaded by Kankonkar on the Dev Khapreshwar temple relocation are under scrutiny.

In the clips, the activist had expressed disappointment over the Devasthan’s shift and questioned the authorities’ intent behind the move. After the assault, Kankonkar alleged that his attackers taunted him, saying, “Do you wish to be the ‘Rakhandar’ (protector) of Goa? Let us show you,” before beating him.

Police said they are tracking all digital footprints to identify those involved in the attack and to determine whether the videos played a role in provoking it.
