Bantwal, Sep 21:
Acting on a tip-off, the Bantwal excise department team raided a house in Manchi village and seized a stock of Goa liquor and homemade wine stored illegally.

The raid was carried out under the leadership of Bantwal excise deputy superintendent Santosh Modagi. The accused, Arun Noronha, is reported to be absconding.

From the house, officials seized liquor meant for sale only in Goa, including one 750 ml bottle of Bacardi Lemon rum, a 750 ml Amrut Amalgam whisky bottle marked ‘for defence personnel only’ with 500 ml content, one 750 ml foreign wine bottle labelled White Dimisik Gacobaji, and 13 bottles containing 4.25 litres of homemade wine in empty McDowell’s whisky bottles of different flavours. In addition, eight empty bottles of Goa-only liquor brands were also found, bringing the total seized quantity to 6.25 litres.

A case has been registered against the accused, and excise officials have launched an investigation to trace him.
