Beltangady, Sep 22: Panic has gripped the residents of Shibaje village in Neerana after a lone wolf has been spotted wandering on the roads for the past week, creating fear among commuters and villagers alike.

According to locals, the wild animal has been causing damage to trees and even electric poles along the roadside. The presence of the wolf has made night travel highly risky, forcing villagers to remain indoors after dusk.

Motorists passing through Shibaje reported incidents of vehicles stopping midway out of fear, while a truck was recently found halted in the middle of the road after the driver spotted the wolf ahead.

With tension mounting, villagers have urged authorities to take immediate measures to capture the animal and ensure the safety of commuters. Meanwhile, locals are appealing to motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution, especially during night hours.
