Beltangady, Sept 23: In a major crackdown on repeat offenders, the Belthangady police have successfully secured a one-year externment order against notorious rowdy-sheeter Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi from Ujire, who has more than 32 criminal cases pending against him across multiple police stations in the district.

Following a detailed report submitted by Beltangady police, Puttur assistant commissioner (AC) Stella Varghese reviewed the file and, on September 18, issued an order externing Mahesh Shetty to Manvi taluk in Raichur district for a period of one year.

The externment, issued under provisions of law that allow authorities to remove individuals posing a threat to public order, is intended to break the cycle of criminal activities allegedly led by Mahesh in the region.

Police sources said, The accused has been involved in a series of criminal activities and his presence in the district was deemed a serious threat to peace and public safety.

The deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Bantwal sub-division, is expected to initiate legal procedures for enforcement of the externment once the official order reaches his office.

Authorities hope the move will send a strong message to habitual offenders and help restore peace and stability in Beltangady and surrounding areas.
