Gurugram, Sep 23: Rising star Lavanya Jadon emerged as the front-runner after a dramatic opening round at the 13th Leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour, held at the prestigious DLF Golf and Country Club. Despite a late stumble with a double bogey on the 14th hole, Lavanya carded a one-over 73 to hold a slender one-shot lead.

Close on her heels are seasoned pro Amandeep Drall and amateur Zara Anand, both finishing the day with matching 74s, setting the stage for a tightly contested second round.

A four-way tie for fourth place includes amateur Lavanya Gupta, Vani Kapoor, Astha Madan, and Ananya Garg, all posting 75s. Just one stroke behind them, a cluster of six players — Heena Kang, Kriti Chowhan, Jahaanvie Walia, and amateurs Mannat Brar, Anvvi Dahhiya, and Ananyaa Sood — share the seventh spot at four-over 76.

Lavanya began with a bogey but recovered quickly with a birdie on the par-3 second. After alternating bogeys and birdies on the front nine, she made the turn at even par. Her back nine was eventful — a birdie on the 12th, followed by a bogey and a costly double bogey on the 13th and 14th. She salvaged her round with a well-timed birdie on the 17th, finishing at +1.

Chasing Pack:

• Amandeep Drall kept things steady with two birdies offset by four bogeys.
• Zara Anand, the promising amateur, mirrored Amandeep’s card with two birdies and four bogeys.
