Mangaluru: St Aloysius University organises Hindi Diwas

Mangaluru, Sep 24: The department of Hindi, school of languages and culture studies, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organised Hindi Diwas - Celebration of Hindi Virasath on September 22 in LCRI Hall.

Dr Nagaratna N Rao, professor of Hindi, University College, Mangalore was the chief guest. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, VC of St Aloysius University, presided over the programme. Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar of the College, Christopher D’Souza, director, Ranga Adhyayana Kendra, Roicy Rekha Braggs, staff coordinator, Dr Sandhya U Sirsikar, assistant coordinator, Aliya Khan and Armaan Sheikh, the student coordinators were on the dais

Dr Nagaratna Rao in her address highlighted the importance of learning the Hindi language, emphasizing its cultural value, national relevance, and role in fostering unity in diversity. She told that Hindi is India’s national language and it brings together of all people without any discrimination of caste or creed. Hindi is a kind of feeling of nationalism and through this language we can come together and unite with each other. January 10 will be celebrated as World Hindi Day and on September 12 is observed as Hindi Diwas in India, she added.

Dr Praveen Martis in his presidential remarks briefed the importance of observing Hindi Diwas in colleges. He suggested promoting Hindi in our country to bind all the people together in nation building.

Dr Sandhya Sirsikar welcomed the gathering. Sara compered the programme. Aliya Khan proposed the vote of thanks.

The valedictory ceremony was held. Dr Alwyn D’Sa was the chief guest and Robert John, the campus officer of the University was the guest of honour.

As part of the Hindi Diwas celebrations, various competitions were organized, including Saath Satori, lagori, Tare Zameen Par, Tashan, and cooking without fire. The winners were felicitated and awarded during the valedictory programme.
