Udupi: Omni car collides with cyclist in Amasebailu, police personnel rush to rescue

Udupi, Sep 25: A cyclist was seriously injured when an Omni car, driven recklessly at high speed by driver Waseem, hit him near the forest department office on the Amasebailu–Haladi road in Siddapur.

The injured has been identified as Mahabala Poojary (55), who sustained severe injuries in the accident. He was initially rushed to a private hospital in Haladi and later shifted to Manipal Hospital for advanced treatment.

As Poojary lay grievously injured after the collision, locals feared he might not survive. At that moment, Shashidhar Shetty, a police personnel from Haladi on his way to duty, noticed the victim and immediately administered first aid. With the help of locals Nandan, Arun Shetty, and Rajesh, he shifted the injured to Haladi hospital before being taken to Manipal for further care.

Amasebailu police have appealed to the public not to hesitate in providing first aid to accident victims, stressing that timely medical assistance can save lives.
