Mangaluru, Sep 26: Barke police have arrested two persons for possessing and supplying narcotic drug opium. A total of 174 grams of black-coloured opium along with other items valued at Rs 99,000 have been seized from them.
The arrested have been identified as Vasudev alias Syan (48), a native of Kabootar Ko Chabootar Badawala village in Sanchore taluk of Jalore district, Rajasthan, currently residing in a rented house at Bhagavathi Nagar, and Mangal Chaudhary (45), a Rajasthan native residing near Danish Apartments in Kudroli.

Based on credible information, Barke police sub-inspector Vinayak Toragal and his team went to the rear side of the Gujarati School at Bhagavathi Nagar, Kodialbail, on Wednesday afternoon, where they located Vasudev. During the search, opium was found concealed inside the cover of the petrol tank of his bike. Upon interrogation, Vasudev revealed that he had procured the substance from Mangal Chaudhary, who was later taken into custody.
From Vasudev, the police recovered 174 grams of liquid-form opium worth Rs 9,000, cash amounting to Rs 40,000, a mobile phone, and a two-wheeler valued at Rs 50,000, bringing the total seized property to Rs 99,000.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and both accused have been produced before the court, which has remanded them to judicial custody, police informed.
