Panaji, Sep 27: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa on Friday launched a State-wide campaign to spotlight what it described as growing lawlessness and the alleged collapse of law-and-order under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s BJP government.

Termed ‘BJPChe Gundaraj Goyank Naka’ (Goa does not want BJP’s Gundaraj), the campaign will reach across all corners of the State. Addressing a press conference at the party office in Panaji, AAP State president Amit Palekar and national spokesperson Valmiki Naik urged Goans to unite against rising attacks on citizens.

“This Diwali, it’s time we end the Narkasur of Gundaraj which has destroyed Goa’s peace,” Palekar said, referring to the recent attack on social activist Rama Kankonkar. “It’s a wake-up call for us Goans. Today it is Rama. Tomorrow it could be any one of us.”

Naik added that Goans are living in fear, alleging that anyone who raises their voice against the BJP government—activists, businesspersons, or opposition leaders—is targeted. “The gundas are not in jail, but inside the BJP government itself,” he said, accusing the administration of nurturing criminals for political gains and eroding Goa’s image over the past six years.

Responding to the concerns, Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju expressed confidence that the State government is attentive to law and order issues. Speaking to the media during a visit to the Campal walkway near the statue of Lord Parshuram, the Governor said maintaining peace and security remains the government’s responsibility, adding that the administration is actively monitoring the situation.
