Panaji, Sep 28: In a bid to manage parking more efficiently, two key spots in Taleigao village—specifically the area in front of St Michael Church and both sides of the market road—will soon be designated as paid parking zones. The responsibility for overseeing these zones has been entrusted to the Taleigao village panchayat.
The North Goa Collector has officially notified these locations as pay-parking areas, setting fixed fees for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Along with this notification, several guidelines have been issued to ensure smooth operations and public convenience.
Key conditions include the requirement for contractors managing the parking zones to maintain a minimum of two car spaces at all times for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks. Additionally, at least one parking slot must be reserved specifically for persons with disabilities (PwD).

To maintain professionalism, all staff involved in fee collection must wear proper uniforms, and the receipts issued should bear the official Taleigao panchayat letterhead.
Regarding charges, two-wheelers will be charged Rs 5 for parking up to four hours, with a doubled fee applicable for parking up to 12 hours. For four-wheelers, the rate is Rs 20 for the first four hours and Rs 15 for each additional hour.
The village administration anticipates that introducing these paid parking zones will reduce disorderly parking, which has long been a major inconvenience for residents and visitors alike.
