Mangaluru: 'Dasara Vaibhava – 2025' held at Srinivas University

Mangaluru, Sep 29: The Institute of Computer Science and Information Science at Srinivas University celebrated 'Dasara Vaibhava – 2025' on September 26. The programme was inaugurated by the institute's dean, Dr Subramanya Bhat, who, in his introductory speech, conveyed the significance of the Dasara celebration to the assembled students. He explained the necessity of celebrating such festivals within the institution, as per UGC norms, with the objective of instilling Indian culture among the youth.

Present on the stage were Dr Shridhara Acharya, head of the BCA department; Prof Swathi Kumari H, head of the MCA department; cultural coordinators Prof Riya Uppala and Prof Radhika Mallya; and Dasara coordinators Prof Abhishek Varnekar and Prof Sandhya Bangera.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Indian art and sports competitions that were held prior to the Dasara programme.

The event reflected the spirit of Dasara by blending tradition, devotion, and festive performances. The programme's aim was not only to highlight the importance of Navaratri but also to showcase the vibrancy of Indian culture. Students from various batches actively participated, bringing to life the colors, music, and rhythm of Indian culture. The event featured enchanting cultural performances, including Kunitha Bhajane, Huli Nritya (Tiger Dance), and a spirited fusion of Chende and violin, with each performance representing the power and vitality of Indian traditions. The character of ‘Mahishasura.’ who entered the stage from amidst the audience, thrilled everyone.

This celebration created a vibrant and festive atmosphere on campus, bringing students and faculty together to witness and appreciate the diversity of Indian heritage. Thus, Dasara Vaibhava became more than just a cultural event—it was a reminder of India's rich traditions, unity, and shared identity, celebrated with enthusiasm and pride at ICIS.

The formal programme was hosted by students Kaveramma, Sudarshan, and Veekshitha, while the cultural programme was compered by Mehnaz Mustafa and Shreya Suvarna.
